SIUE Provides Educational Leadership Professional Development Online
During the summer of 2016, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Education, Health and Human Behavior is combining with the Department of Educational Outreach to provide professional development online courses for K-12 teachers.
The Instructional Technology Program will be offering professional development (PD) through a series of software focus courses. Students can take full graduate level courses or a sequence of graduate courses to earn PD hours and certificates of completion instead of graduate level credit.
“As rapidly as technology is evolving in this digital age, educators need to adapt just as quickly to such a fluid environment,” said Dave Knowlton, PhD and graduate program director of instructional technology. “These courses will help community college faculty, K-12 teachers and corporate trainers stay on the cutting edge of teaching, learning and training.”
Professional Development Software Focus Courses are $150 per course and earn 10 PD hours per course. Courses include:
- But Will They Hear You? Presenting Classroom Content in Audio Format / May 11-13

Each individual course can be taken for PD hours and a certificate of completion instead of graduate level credit. Signing up for all three courses in a sequence reduces per course expense by 20 percent resulting in the entire sequence cost of $1,080.
